The (already too high) application fee is going up!

after Dec. 23rd it’ll be $725 (but there’s a new reduced fee option)

USCIS has just announced a new fee schedule to go into effective December 23, 2016. Applications filed on or after December 23, 2016 must include the new fees.

Here are some details:

  • The N-400 fee will go from $680 to $725
  • The fee waiver will continue to be available to low-income applicants (those who qualify pay nothing).
  • A reduced fee of $320 will be available to applicants with family income greater than 150 percent and not more than 200 percent of the Federal Poverty Guidelines. [note: I am not certain if this includes the biometrics fee, which is $85]

On a related note:

·         The fee for filing an N-600 (for a naturalization certificate for a child)  will go up to $1170.

·        The fee for filing N-565 (Application for Replacement of Naturalization Certificate) will go up to $555
