How to use Citizenship: Passing the Test to help students prepare for the 2025 test

a free download from New Readers Press

Help for citizenship teachers is on the way!

The 2025 test is more difficult (in terms of language complexity and cognitive level), and there are more questions, but these questions generally follow the same set of civics concepts as the 2008 test (minus the geography). We're moving quickly to get a updated edition of Citizenship: Passing the Test Civics & Literacy out, but until it becomes available, the current third or fourth editions can still be used effectively if you supplement instruction using the information in this free download: https://www.newreaderspress.com/site/Additional%20Resources/Citizenship-Supplement_2025.pdf

The supplement details which content and questions have/have not changed in the new test. You will be able to see, page by page, which questions:

  • remain the same,
  • are no longer on the test,
  • have been worded in a different way, and
  • which new questions relate to content that is already featured on a given page

I hope you will find this helpful!
