More bad news

major fee increase

Tomorrow, USCIS will officially publish a proposed rule on the naturalization fee. It's bad, but not really unexpected. According to the ILRC, the new rule:

• Eliminates the reduced fee and fee waiver for the N-400
• Raises the N-400 fee to $1330 for paper filing, $1280 for online filing

They are also proposing changes to the N-400 form, but I don't have the details yet. I'll pass them along when I see them.

There is a 60-day comment period on the proposal. I will let you know about any opportunities to weigh in on this proposed rule.
