How to comment on the proposed application fee increase

As you know, USCIS is proposing to nearly double the (already high) naturalization fee and eliminate fee waivers/reductions. Our friends at the National Partnership for New Americans (NPNA), the Immigrant Legal Resource Center (ILRC), and the New Americans Campaign (NAC), have created the resources below on how to submit a comment on the proposed fee rule.

It is critical that we submit as many unique comments as possible to USCIS, to build the record of the opposition to the increase and make your voice heard. The deadline is August 24.

  • Overview of USCIS Proposed Rule on Naturalization Fees
  • Template Comment: Includes instructions and tips for submitting effective comments, legal and policy arguments, customizable template language, and examples for stakeholder input. We encourage you to tailor the template to reflect your own perspective, creating a unique submission that is more likely to receive individualized administrative review.
  • Stop the Paywall landing page with talking points, simple step-by-step instructions for submitting customizable comments, and toolkit featuring social media graphics to help amplify the message.
